UI Interface Design
While working in Nottingham I was approached by a medical engineer who was working with LS Electronics Group on a machine to treat cancer patients. The treatment uses multiple probes that are connected to a liquid nitrogen supply, they are inserted into the patient using keyhole surgery techniques where they are used to envelope the tumors in ice – creating an ice-ball around the tumor. When the ice-ball is thawed the tumor is now dead and will dissipate into the body with no ill effects.
My UI design was used to control the growth and size of each ice-ball. I worked closely with the whole team – taking design ideas from the project director Brian Clarke, his medical adviser, and the coding team.
